Your data
Privacy Policy
Last updated: August 26, 2026
Plain version: we collect your email address so we can send you the letter. We do not sell your data to anyone, ever. You can leave at any time and take your address with you.
What we collect
- Your email address, and your name if you choose to give it. This is the only thing we ask for directly.
- Email engagement — whether an issue was opened and which links were clicked, recorded by beehiiv, our newsletter platform. We use it to tell whether issues are arriving and being read.
- Payment information, if you subscribe to a paid tier. This is collected and stored by Stripe, our payment processor. We never see or store your full card details. We can see that a payment succeeded, its amount, and the tier it applies to.
- Basic website logs — IP address, browser type and pages requested, recorded by Netlify, which hosts coilreport.com. Standard server logging, used for security and troubleshooting.
We do not ask for, and do not want, your brokerage credentials, account numbers, positions or account balances. Do not send them to us.
Why we hold it
- To deliver the issues you subscribed to
- To bill you, if you are on a paid tier, and to handle refunds
- To answer your emails
- To tell whether delivery is working — whether issues are landing in inboxes rather than spam
Who else touches it
Three service providers, each processing data on our behalf under their own privacy terms:
- beehiiv — stores the subscriber list and sends the issues
- Stripe — processes payments
- Netlify — hosts coilreport.com, and, if the signup service is unavailable when you submit the form, temporarily stores your address in Netlify Forms so it is not lost
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not rent or trade our subscriber list. We do not share your address with advertisers or other newsletters except where you have explicitly opted in to a cross-promotion or recommendation, which is always your choice and always reversible.
We will disclose information if we are legally required to, and we will tell you unless we are prohibited from doing so.
Cookies
coilreport.com uses no advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. The beehiiv-hosted archive and subscriber portal set cookies necessary to keep you signed in; those are governed by beehiiv’s privacy policy.
Leaving, and taking your data with you
Every issue carries a one-click unsubscribe link in its footer, and it works immediately. You can also email hello@coilreport.com.
You may ask us at any time to tell you what we hold about you, correct it, or delete it entirely. Email us from the address you subscribed with and we will do it, normally within 30 days. Deleting your data ends your subscription, because the address is how we deliver it.
If you are in a jurisdiction with statutory data rights — for example the EU or UK under GDPR, or California under the CCPA — those rights apply and we honour them for everyone regardless of where they live.
How long we keep it
The signup fallback. If beehiiv cannot be reached when you submit the form, your address is held in Netlify Forms instead and added to the list by hand afterwards. It is stored only until that transfer happens, and a deletion request covers that copy as well — tell us the address and we will remove it from both places. This path exists so a signup is never silently dropped during an outage.
We keep your address while you are subscribed, and for a short period afterwards so an accidental unsubscribe can be undone and so we do not re-add you to a list you left. Billing records are kept as long as tax and accounting law requires. Ask for deletion and we will delete what we are not legally required to keep.
Security
We use reputable providers and keep access to the subscriber list limited. No system is perfectly secure; if a breach affects your data we will tell you promptly and tell you what happened.
Children
The Coil Report is not directed at anyone under 18 and we do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has subscribed, email us and we will remove the record.
Changes to this policy
If we change how we handle your data in a way that materially affects you, we will tell you by email before it takes effect. The “last updated” date above always reflects the current version.
